Yes, my friends, Piglet would like you to know that he is drinking out of a real styrofoam cup. This morning it was large. Then I put it in a pressure cooker. Literally. I used a little hot plate and the water didn't get very hot and it spat and leaked all over the place. The cup shrank a little tiny bit.
Undaunted, when I got home, I set up the whole thing again (water at the bottom, ring of tinfoil to keep the cup upright, close and boil). This time I put it on our Supr Burnr. I went upstairs to pee and when I came out of the bathroom half a minute later I could hear the little valve squealing and clattering. I ran downstairs and turned the heat down. I let it go for about 10-15 minutes just to see what would happen. I had to go to a meeting so I pulled it out and voila! I ran over to Ryan, squealing. And he mentioned that perhaps the pig would like a Big Gulp.
Before our meeting, I had to show Danielle my successful shrinking of the cup since I had started the experiment in her room at lunchtime. She ended up pouring some mini M&Ms into it. She tries to act like she's not a big-ass nerd like us, but she is.
I got the idea from one of the teachers at the area chem teachers' meeting I went to last weekend. It's all about gas laws, something else the pig can get behind. Gas laws. Behind. He just spit out some of his soda laughing.
